About Me

My name is Erin and I am a Graduate student at the University of Oklahoma. I am currently in the MSW program through the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work. I have received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Relations from OU. I am currently employed at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and have worked there for almost five years. I am excited for the opportunity to further my knowledge and become a better social worker. I know the information I learn will be invaluable.

My goal for some time was to go back to school and get my MSW. Now that I and working on that goal I am looking to the future. In three years I will graduate from OU with an MSW.

I want to use my MSW in hospital social work.

A mentor was assigned to me through OU who has been working in hospital social work for awhile. It seemed like a good sign as I had always been interested in this particular field and was eager to learn more about it when I was introduced to my mentor.

After completing the MSW program I will continue to work for OKDHS as I must complete a 30 month obligation to fulfill my contract.

I am also a volunteer at the Crisis Text Line a not-for-profit, free texting service available 24 hours a day everyday in the US by texting 741741.

A coworker and myself started the first annual Finding Forever Families 5k fun run in Shawnee, Oklahoma to raise awareness for the need of adoptive homes. It has gone through its second year now and will continue annually!

I recently volunteered at the Color Run, in Oklahoma City, with recruitment units from OKDHS to recruit foster homes.
